Nebraska to host national geology conference Oct. 12-14

The fourth biennial field conference for the Mid Continent Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists will draw participants nationwide to Lincoln, Nebraska on October 12-14, 2018.

The conference includes:

  • Symposium with a screening of the film "Rock Stars: Women in Petroleum Geology"
  • A field trip, led by Christopher Fielding and R.M. "Matt" Joeckel, through southeast Nebraska to examine a series of Pennsylvanian exposures
  • Keynote "Midcontinent women dominate the earliest hires in petroleum geology: A look at 100 years of women in petroleum" by Robbie Rice Gries
  • Core workshop

The event will be hosted by the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, the School of Natural Resources' Conservation and Survey Division, and the Nebraska Geological Society.

Faculty Chris Fielding and Matt Joeckel are organizing the event.
