Ever since I was young, I have been highly interested in the weather.  Throughout my childhood in York County, Pennsylvania, my family would say that I watched the Weather Channel the way most kids my age would watch a Disney movie.  I was always looking to learn more about both weather and climate, and that search for knowledge led me on a lengthy but highly fulfilling academic journey, with stops close to home in State College at Penn State and much further away in Tucson, Arizona.  Now, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I have my long-awaited opportunity to share what I have learned with the next generation of scientists in the field of weather and climate, while continuing and expanding upon the research that formed the core of my work as a PhD student.
